Because professional photographers can quickly create great and unique wedding pictures of documentary style images and formal group settings, it can appear that photography of such an event is an easy task. This can give amateur photographers the belief that simply purchasing a fancy digital camera somehow gives them an "ability" and therefore the confidence to charge a fee for wedding photography. The forums are littered with “newbie” photographers who have just bought a new consumer camera and are about to take on their first wedding. Unfortunately it can all too soon become clear that not possessing the right equipment and, more importantly, a lack of professional photographic experience commonly brings devastatingly disappointing results. Indeed comments like "I prefer natural light" implies a lack of credible lighting skills as they pray for good weather!
